Barclay School

Barclay School, named after the Barclay family of Whitney Wood, was one of the first secondary modern schools built after World War II. Designed by Yorke, Rosenberg & Mardell, it opened in 1949 with Peter Osmund as headmaster. Henry Moore's sculpture, "Family Group", was installed by the entrance.  The school was awarded a Festival of Britain architectural award in 1951.
