I remember working for SKC when I left School, use to make up the boxes but before doing that job ,was on the knitting machine. remember there was these weights that had to be used, because of the bending down use to cause nosebleeds ,that’s why I was put on to box making. Was only there for 6 weeks, shame it is now closed though.
I was the cleaner & tea lady in this factory some years ago. I remember some names, Tina, Betty, Ann (two I can remember), Dee & more. Sad to learn it is now closed.
My grandmother, Sylvia Kendrick, used to work at SKC. I recall her working there in the early 80s when I was but a small boy, though I couldn’t say how long she had been working there prior to that.
