Memories of living and working in the town

This website is for everybody who has a connection with Stevenage, whether thay have lived in the town since it was built or only recently moved here. The town has been a site for a range of industries; we would love to hear from past and present employees about their experiences of working in Stevenage.

Use a computer or write up your memories

We are able to help everybody add their memories to the site. You do not have to be a computer expert – if you are unable to use a computer or do not have access to one, we can record your memories or we will happily accept handwritten or typed manuscripts.

  • Having spoken to my sister Anne Daly more info has come to light -the picture is of Pan Power who owned the shop as well as the one at the Hyde. And we think that it was around 1963.

  • I am enjoying the site brings back a lot of memories. The picture of Mikes caravan barbers shop Chells has got the date incorrect. My father same name as me was the barber at this time. I worked at the butchers shop Ray Hawkins just along the way. I do believe that the shops have all gone now.
