Memories

Growing up in Stevenage

By Kim Allen

My parents moved to Stevenage in 1958. My mum was pregnant with me and I was born in 1959. We lived in Godfrey close. I went to Ashtree Infant and Junior School and then Heathcote School.

I have three sisters, Ruth, Faith and Virginia. I worked briefly for Alloy Sheet Metal in Gunnels Wood Road and later for the Wine Society. I now live in Shefford but still work in Stevenage as a postwoman.
