  • To the commenter , above last post the shop was called The Hobby Shop , it was there for many years next to what I recall was the scouts and guides shop! Hope that helps !

  • I seem to recall that at the Southgate end of Queensway, there was a cycle shop. Was that Currys? It was where my Mum bought me my first racing bike, a Viking. If the Attertons shops shown here are the same family that had a shop on Popple Way, they used to take me to a local stables where one of their daughters went riding. Mr Atterton had a Mk1 Ford Zephyr-Zodiac in 2-tone paint. I’m talking late 50’s, early 60’s. Somewhere around Park Place there was a model shop where I got all my Airfix kits.
