Help me return a precious item to a teacher from Bandley Hill School

Karen Grieves

I’m searching for someone called Siddique (apologies if spelled incorrectly) who was a teacher at Bandley Hill School possibly more than 20 years ago, because I have something that belongs to him and I want to return it, so I am posting here in the hope that someone will remember some details to help me find him. He worked there for about a year. He had come to the UK from South Africa for a secondment or training placement. His daughter Rehana (again not sure if spelled correctly) who I believe was training to be a teacher also came to the UK a short while after him. Both my mother Barbara Cordell and my mother in law Pat Grieves worked as cooks in the school and Siddique and Rehana lodged with my parents for several months before eventually returning to South Africa when we lost touch.

Recently, having a clear-out for a house move, we came across Siddique’s Quran with a message from Siddique’s father to him in it. We really want to find him so we can return it to him. I imagine he will be in his 60’s/70’s now, and Rehana probably 40’s.

I am hoping someone on here will remember him because they were a member of school staff or a pupil/parent and be able to give us more details to help trace him like his full name or may indeed have old photos of the staff team.

I know it’ll be like finding a needle in a thousand haystacks but we live in hope.
