As a child in the 1960s I lived at no. 15 Orchard Road. The road went straight down to near the green in the High Street. The building as above was bang where Lytton Way is today, and of course has long been demolished. I seem to remember there was council business to be done there, as I went in a number of times, to a room full of ladies on huge black typewriters clacking away (those were the days). It has to be said though, Lytton Way literally desecrated the atmosphere of this part of town, and I consider it to have been poor planning.
Does anyone know where about on Orchard Road this building would have been.
Using google earth , I suspect this building was on the part of road that connected back into the old town (where the dual carriage way and back roads are) but I could be wrong.
